Why not? Most spam traps used for addition to DNS blocking lists closely guard the specifics of spam received to protect the traps effectiveness. Eventually I plan on including date and subjects of spam received on these reports. All messages in these reports have been reported to providers and posted to news.admin.net-abuse.sightings. Google Groups is an excellent tool for searching this news group. My Reports (via Google Groups)
These reports are based on spam received to various in service role accounts at my employer, Linode.com, as well as via a trap domain that receives no legitimate mail. Due to the sample size and sampling method, these numbers are not necessarily true for the Internet at large but accurately reflect the spam I receive.
All messages sent to my employers domain that are reflected in these reports have manually been verified to be spam or virus messages. All messages sent to the trap domain are reported as no solicited mail is received there. The domain has never been given to any site or individual as part of an email address to use for contact.
I plan to add a more detailed report which give numbers of messages per day with a line graph for overall spam as well as specific providers. I would also like to add the ability to view previous data, i.e. last 30 days, last 60 days, previous month, all time, etc. If you have an idea for a report or other statistic you would like to see, please drop me a line.
Updates occur periodically throughout the day, the spam is processed in batches approximatly every four to five hours when I am around.
All ASN data including ASNs linked to providers and ASN Organization text is believed to be correct. If you notice incorrect attribution of an ASN to a provider or an incorrect ASN Organization, please drop me a line at michael@thegrebs.com so that I may get it corrected.
I feed my spam into a reporting script written by Karsten M. Self available on his webpage. The logfile generated is then parsed by a perl script and data inserted into a database. At some point, the perl scripts for parsing the logfile and generating these web pages will be available for download here.
